Bonus buy vs ante bet: what changes?

A feature buy charges an upfront price to enter the specified bonus. An ante bet adds a cost or changes the bet setting for each spin, with the exact enhancement defined by the game. It may increase the chance of triggering a feature; it does not necessarily trigger that feature on the next spin.

• Standard spin: pay the selected stake and use the normal trigger rules.
• Bonus buy: pay the displayed purchase price for the chosen feature entry.
• Ante bet: pay for an enhanced spin and check what the enhancement actually changes.

How much does a bonus buy cost in EUR?

Multiply the base stake used by the buy menu by the displayed price multiplier. These are arithmetic examples, not prices promised for every game:

• A 100x buy at a €0.20 base stake costs €20.
• The same 100x buy at a €1 base stake costs €100.
• A hypothetical 25% ante surcharge on a €1 base stake makes each enhanced spin cost €1.25. Twenty such spins cost €25 before any returns.

A small base stake can still produce a large purchase. Compare the total price in the confirmation window, not just the stake shown beside the reels. “Low cost bonus buy” therefore depends on both the purchase multiplier and the available minimum stake. A completed feature can return less than its purchase price.

A game-specific example: Big Bass – Keeping it Reel

The studio overview for this edition lists a direct free-spins buy at 100x the current total bet. Its ante setting uses a 15x bet multiplier rather than the normal 10x, adds scatter symbols to the reels and disables the Buy Free Spins option while active. This illustrates why an ante setting and a direct buy should not be treated as interchangeable buttons.

The figures belong to this documented edition. Check the rules in the loaded game before applying them to another Big Bass title or another configuration.

Bonus buy RTP, versions and feature rules

Compare the RTP for the exact mode and version rather than copying a base-game figure into a bonus-buy comparison. Our individual reviews show recorded mode values where available; the help screen of the loaded game is the place to check its current configuration.

Jelly Express, for example, offers different combinations of free spins and wild multipliers when its bonus starts. Understanding that choice is separate from knowing the entry price. A larger purchase does not mean a guaranteed larger return.
