Blackjack is the one casino game where your decisions change the outcome.
Play every hand the way the maths says and the house edge drops to roughly half a percent. Play on instinct and it climbs several times higher. That gap is the whole point of this page.
Take another card. The right move whenever your hand cannot beat what the dealer is likely to end up with.
Keep what you have. Correct far more often than beginners think, especially against a weak dealer card.
Double your bet for exactly one more card. The single biggest source of value in the game — and the move beginners skip most often.
Turn a pair into two hands. Always split aces and eights. Never split tens or fives.
Six lines. They cover the large majority of hands you will ever be dealt, and getting them right is worth more than any betting system.
Against a live dealer the maths does not change, but the pace does. You get a fixed number of seconds to decide, so the six rules above have to be automatic rather than worked out at the table. Play a few hundred hands in a demo first — the decisions become reflexes, and reflexes are what a live table rewards.
Blackjack usually counts very little towards bonus wagering, and at many casinos not at all. If you are playing on a bonus, check that first — otherwise you are clearing a requirement that is not moving.
